Alpine was so named because it is on the top of one of the foothills of the Central Oregon Coast Range. [3] It is noted that the "situation is not particularly alpine in character". Imnaha is an unincorporated community at the confluence of Big Sheep Creek and the Imnaha River in Wallowa County, Oregon, United States. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] Its elevation is 1,978 feet (603 m). [ 2 ] Oregon Route 350 connects Imnaha to the nearest incorporated city, Joseph , 30 miles (48 km) to the west.
