The second generation of the Ford F-Series is a series of trucks that was produced by Ford from the 1953 to 1956 model years. Marketed as the "Triple Economy" series, the second-generation F-Series again encompassed a comprehensive range of vehicles, ranging from light-duty pickup trucks to heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
The FX4 became more upscale with a Luxury package. A Harley-Davidson special edition was offered for 2006, available on SuperCab models with two- or all-wheel-drive. Other mid-cycle revisions included five-inch running boards, traction assist on 4×2 V8 models, and "Smokestone Clearcoat Metallic" paint for the Lariat trim.
The F-250 4x4 was marketed in both single-cab and crew cab configurations (the latter, one of the rarest versions of the sixth-generation F-series [17]). Offered in the Custom, Ranger, and Ranger XLT trims only with a long bed, the configuration was not offered with the SuperCab body, auxiliary fuel tanks, and the Camper Special option package.
Ford's 10-speed 10R140 TorqShift automatic transmission was now standard with the diesel and 7.3-liter gasoline engines on the F-250 and all engines on the F-350; the 6-speed was still available, but only in the F-250 with the 6.2-liter engine and even the F-350 XL DRW with the Payload Package of the same engine (though this is a rare option).
