The blink video doorbell is a wirelessly connected smart device that allows video and audio to be viewed via another device. It works similarly to the Ring doorbell, including in its ability to connect to Amazon Alexa and an offering of a "plus" subscription, which allows greater cloud storage capacity and syncing of multiple devices.
In November 2013, Ring was founded as Doorbot by Jamie Siminoff. Doorbot was crowdfunded via Christie Street, and raised US$ 364,000, more than the $250,000 requested. Concerns regarding the security of the smart doorbells have been raised. Researchers at Pen Test Partners in the UK have analyzed the Ring smart doorbell and concluded that it is possible for an attacker to gain access to the homeowner's wireless network by unscrewing the Ring, pressing the setup button and accessing the configuration URL. [7]
