"I Miss You" is a song by American rock band Blink-182, released on February 2, 2004, as the second single from the group's self-titled album (2003). Co-written by guitarist Tom DeLonge and bassist Mark Hoppus , they employed a method of writing separately and bringing their two verses together later.
Guitarist Tom Delonge wrote the song for a surfer friend. "Mutt" was written primarily by DeLonge about his friend and former roommate, [2] Benji Weatherly. [3] The two lived together in Pacific Beach, California for three years in the mid-1990s; an editorialist for Men's Journal described the duo's reputation for "wine, women, and song" as the stuff of "local lore". [4]
The song is composed in the key of D major and is set in common time.DeLonge's vocal range spans from A 3 to G 4. [5] The song "begins with a mid-paced riff and some nice undistorted jangling guitars before smashing into a satisfyingly fast-assed punk song in the vein of NOFX with some very adept dynamic breakdowns."

[2] The treatment ultimately left him, as he described it, "a hollow shell," as he sustained significant damage to his body and vocal chords. [3] Later that year though, he was declared cancer free.
