Ayothaya state was a prominent city within the Dvaravati region, situated at the confluence of the Mae Bia River on the eastern side of what is now known as Ayothaya city. The historical text, Chinkalamaliphakorn, refers to this city as Ram, which translates to the city of Phra Ram, synonymous with Ayothaya.
