The Bayerische Akademie für Außenwirtschaft e. V. (BAA), [Bavarian Academy for Foreign Trade] headquartered in Munich, was founded in 1989 as a private university of cooperative education and state-approved vocational school for training highly qualified young professional and managerial staff for the international professional world.
In November 2006, Baltic Aviation Academy (now known as BAA Training) was founded, to provide professional training for aviation specialists. [9] In 2007, JetMS was founded under the name FL Technics Jets. [10] In 2007, Aviation Asset Management was founded (now known as AviaAM Leasing).

In December 2005, BAA made a winning bid of £1.2 billion for a 75% stake in Budapest Ferihegy International Airport, the largest airport in Hungary, which was being privatised by the Hungarian government. In July 2006, BAA was taken over by a consortium led by Ferrovial, following a bid which valued the company at £10.1 billion ($20 billion). [4]
In 2008 he became Chief Executive of BAA plc, renamed Heathrow Airport Holdings in 2012. He announced his resignation from Heathrow Airport Holdings on 1 April 2014 [ 2 ] when he announced he would leave the company later that year.
