Sausalito (Spanish for "small willow grove") is a city in Marin County, California, United States, located 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) southeast of Marin City, 8 miles (13 km) south-southeast of San Rafael, [8] and about 4 miles (6 km) north of San Francisco from the Golden Gate Bridge. The Sausalito Public Library was founded in 1906 by Father John Valentini and the Reverend George Maxwell on the second floor of the Sausalito Land & Ferry Company building on Bridgeway. In 1909 the Library was moved to 733 Bridgeway where it was expanded by stages to fill the entire second floor of the old City Hall.
