The Ohio State University at Mansfield is a regional campus of Ohio State University in Mansfield, Ohio. It was founded in 1958 as a land-grant college and occupies a 644-acre (2.61 km 2) campus that is shared with North Central State College. The campus offers twelve bachelor's degree programs. University Hall was the first building on campus, built in 1873 and reconstructed in 1976. The proposal of a manufacturing and agriculture university in central Ohio was initially met in the 1870s with hostility from the state's agricultural interests and competition for resources from Ohio University, which was chartered by the Northwest Ordinance and Miami University.
