The Mackay Estate Gate Lodge was designed in 1899 and built between 1900 and 1902 by architect Stanford White of McKim, Mead & White in the French Baroque style. It is a small but imposing stone building with a central entrance flanked by small square lodges and topped by a steep slate mansard and pyramidal roof.
Mungo Mackay was born in Holm Paplay parish, near Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, in 1740 to Alexander Mackay, who was married to Elizabeth Keith. [1] Mungo made his way to Boston in about 1755, as a cabin boy, according to family tradition. [2] By about 1760 he was deeply involved in shipping, and became a Master by 1764.
They included a main lodge and 13 cabins as well as satellite camps for housing loggers. The camps are a 2.2 mile hike from Gulf Hagas and a 5.2 mile hike from the Appalachian Trail's famed 100-Mile Wilderness. They are located approximately 20 miles (32 km) east of Greenville and 30 miles (48 km) northwest of Brownville. [1]

Constructed in 1898 as an eight-room inn, Mount Airy Lodge was re-constructed in the 1950s as the Pocono's largest resort. In its heyday in the 1960s and 70's, Mount Airy had more than 890 rooms, indoor/outdoor pools, skiing, snowmobiling, ice-skating, hiking, biking, horseback riding, archery, an 18-hole golf course and paddle ball courts on over 1,000 acres of property.

The Mackay Masonic Temple is located in the Mackay central business district on the corner of Wood Street and Ninth Lane. It is a two-storey masonry building, rectangular in plan form, with parapets concealing a gabled roof clad in metal sheeting. The Temple and a single storey addition at the rear cover the majority of the allotment.
