Sports Radio Detroit was born out of the independent podcast series, The Red Line [1] in collaboration with the unofficial Detroit Red Wings site, letsgowings.com. The show debuted on the independent website, letsgowingsmedia.com on October 31, 2011. [2] The podcast shifted to a permanent home at letsgowingsradio.com in September 2012. [3]

On September 22, 2023, WCSX-HD2 flipped to an all-podcast format, as part of Beasley's "Podcast Radio US" network. [ 11 ] The 93.5 and 99.1 signals' as of late August 2024 no longer relays WCSX HD-2, and instead relays sister station WMGC HD-2, leaving Podcast Radio US only to be heard on local radio via WCSX HD-2 and internet streaming.
The Detroit Radio Information Service (DRIS) broadcasts on a subcarrier of WDET. DRIS serves the visually impaired community with live and pre-recorded readings of daily and weekly print publications via special radio receiver or streaming. There are plans to launch an HD-2 subchannel which would play eclectic music and some news programs.
