The Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination, usually referred to as the WKCE's, was a proficiency examination designed to meet the requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind legislation. [1] It was administered in grades 3-8 and 10 in the subjects of reading, mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies.
They include the High School Proficiency Examination for Reading and Mathematics; the Iowa Test of Basic Skills; Iowa Tests of Educational Development; Criterion-referenced tests in Reading, Mathematics, and Science; Language Proficiency Assessment; Nevada Alternate Scales of Academic Achievement; and National Assessment of Educational Progress.
WKCE operates at 10,000 watts by day, using a non-directional antenna. [3] But because AM 1180 is a clear-channel frequency, reserved for Class A WHAM in Rochester, New York, WKCE must reduce power to 2,600 watts during critical hours and sign-off at night. The AM transmitter is located off Strawberry Plains Pike in Knoxville.
