Can anyone tell me if I can install a Haas Mini Mill 2 single phase machine in my garage if the requirements are 195-250 VAC/50A OR 366-425 VAC/20A? My home has a 100A main breaker, so if the machine is a 7.5hp motor..which is 5.6kw max, why is the electrician telling me it might draw too...

Hello, I work for a small company that is making a transition from old work horses (bridgeports) to Mini mills, however we need to relocate some of our machines to make the most of the space we have on offer, the owner/MD has a motion in his head that if we move the mills ourselves (5 meters at most) and relevel the mill will self power down ...

  4. Haas Mini Mill, how old is too old? - Practical Machinist

If you have one iota of business sense and you find a Haas mini-mill for a good price you'd buy it and flip it for 10 times what you paid for it. For an excellent CNC mill to eliminate a Bridgeport buy an old Mori-Seiki MV-Jr. These are usually $1500-$3000 with a rock solid Fanuc control and absolutely awesome.

I hadn't ever seen a Toolroom Mill but now that is looking like the way to go with WAY more working space, and ability to open the side doors for very long parts, and a better enclosure, all for a minimal increase in floor space. The info I have found out there, and opinions I've heard, seem to say the Mini is a more rigid machine.

  6. Haas Mini Mill vs Super Mini Mill horse power questions

First question - I am in the process of buying a CNC mill and I believe the Haas mini mill series is where I am landing. The standard mini mill has a 6K RPM 7.5 HP spindle. For $10K extra I can get the Super mini mill that has a 10K RPM 15 HP spindle. However, I can spend an extra $4K on upgrading the standard mini mill's spindle to a 10K RPM ...

Ok, I think yours must be the redesigned (last gen) version which has a roof and larger openings to the sump. The Haas youtube channel has a video from Aug 21, 2015 which introduces the redesigned mini-mill so presumably they started selling them right around that time. Mine is the old model with no roof and the sump openings are tiny.

Back in 2009 when I was looking for a first mill looked at the TM-1, mini mill and supper mini but ended up with a Hurco VM-10. Optioned about the same the Hurco was close on price but has a few more HP and 10 more tools. More tools may not be an issue now but in a year or two it will be!. Get an enclosed machine or wear a rain coat on the job.

Hi all. I'm about to pull trigger on a new-to-me, 2010 Super Mini Mill 2 with SMTC. This machine is rated at "15hp" but I gather that number may be inflated, and I think how hard you run the machine will affect the electrical requirement. I will be cutting mostly plastic and aluminum and this is...

Haas SMM + Haas 4th Axis is probably the cheapest way to get into a brand new 4-axis machine. I would also look into a used 30 taper machine (Robodrill, Brother, I think Doosan has one also, etc). I see a lot of relatively new machines on sale right now for reasonable money.

The Haas Mini Mill dimensions sheet states minimum 80" from machine bottom to top of spindle head. Based on the clearance we had getting the MM in the garage, this is accurate. This is what it looked like getting the MM into the garage and set in the garage next to the TL1.
