The 4lb bags (or any weighed bags) are great if you are trying to get a definite ratio. Around here sugar was generally about $.50/lb plus sales tax (which in TN is almost 10%). Unless prices have skyrocketed like they have on other stuff. Buying bulk saves me about 25-30%, and barrels can be stored outside.

I bought 4lb bags of sugar tonight at Krogers for $2.19ea. I dont know how much you mix at 1 time, but I prefer the 4lb bags as I can just count ...

Heavy syrup is about 12 lbs per gallon so 6,000 lbs would need 3,000 lbs of water at a 2:1 ratio for heavy syrup. 9,000/12 will make 750 gallons. A little short of what I need but I have already have 3,000 lbs in the warehouse.
Sugar is typically one fifth the price of honey. If sugar went up, honey went up. The problem is the funny honey from India that avoided tariffs. At 80 cents a pound for sugar, Honey should be 4 dollars. Then there would be no problems. Yes, inflation is much worse than the media reports. Crazy Roland
I cannot remember his name, but there is a scrap sugar broker in Alpharetta, GA. Look in the yellow pages under "food brokers". I only use HFCS. I buy it 250 gallons at a time from soft drink bottlers. It's a commodity, so prices float, but last year the range was, if I remember right, 12-16 cents a lb. BubbaBob.

There was one place in GA selling barge/floor sweepings for .35 cents per pound. That's ridiculous. I found 25# bags on the coast at Walmart for $8.68 We loaded up on our last trip.
Where I am, the price is very close if not cheaper when you calculate the actual sugar content. I pay $.49 for a lb of sugar content in the form of pro sweet. Depending on where I get my granulated sugar, its between $.48 and $.60 /lb. So in my case not only is it cheaper, but its easier. No mixing, no spoilage if left undiluted.

I would add the water to the tank then turn on the pump, start adding the sugar, and by the time all the sugar was added the syrup is more or less mixed. This works better with hot water. You'll probably have lots at the dairy farm. You can get a 50/ 50 syrup with cold water, and a higher concentration with hot water.
Bulk Sugar Cane Syrup. I have five 275 gallon totes of Sucrose syrup available. 100% sugar cane derived. The pH is 5.3. The syrup is light, young, and not cloudy. This is what we use to feed our bees as well and the bees winter and build up well on it. This product can be diluted to make one to 1:1 or be fed straight as thick syrup that is ...
