Cornell College is a private liberal arts college in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Originally the Iowa Conference Seminary , the school was founded in 1853 by George Bryant Bowman. [ 5 ] Four years later, in 1857, the name was changed to Cornell College, in honor of iron tycoon William Wesley Cornell .

In 2017, Herbert Fisk Johnson III of S. C. Johnson & Son contributed $150 million to the school and the newly established Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, resulting in the college's renaming. Graduates of the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business earn some of the highest salaries of MBA programs in the United States.
