Stillorgan (Irish: Stigh Lorgan, also Stigh Lorcáin and previously Tigh Lorcáin or Teach Lorcáin), formerly a village in its own right, is now a suburban area of Dublin in Ireland. Stillorgan is located in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown , and contains many housing estates, shops and other facilities, with the old village centre still present.
The Stillorgan Road brought the road past Belfield, where University College Dublin is located (and accessed from a grade-separated interchange on the dual carriageway - the first full interchange built in Ireland) and onwards to its junction with Mount Merrion Avenue. This former section of the N11 is now the R138.
This followed the example of other cities, including London, first subdivided into ten districts in 1857, [5] and Liverpool, the first city in Britain or Ireland to have postcodes, from 1864. The letter "D" was assigned to designate Dublin [6] and was retained by the new Irish government. [5]

The main artery through the area is the N11 dual carriageway. Public transport is provided by Dublin Bus on routes 7b, 7d, 17, 46a, 46e, 47, 116, 118, 145 and 155. The nearest DART station to Mount Merrion is Blackrock, while the nearest Luas stops are Kilmacud and Stillorgan on the Green line.
