The coat of arms and flag of East Timor on its embassy in Lisbon. The emblem, also known as Belak (Tetum for "Disk"), was introduced on 18 January 2007 by Law 2/2007, [1] replacing the coat of arms based on the shield of the National Council of Timorese Resistance (CNRT), which had been used since independence in 2002.
Since 2005, Timor-Leste has relied on bountiful oil and gas reserves, whose revenues have been funneled into a sovereign wealth Petroleum Fund invested in U.S. treasury bonds and international stocks.
