Jeffersontown is a home rule-class city [3] in Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States.The population was 28,474 at the 2020 census.. It is a major suburb of Louisville.When the Louisville Metro government was established in 2003, Jeffersontown chose to retain its status as an independent city.

In 1966 the Jeffersontown Restoration Society led by Peggy Weber and Petra Williams were remodeling Jefersontown's town square. Jeffersontown had just built a new City Hall building in the Federal style and the Restoration Society was able to convince business owners on the town square to remodel their store fronts in the same style.
