The Fox and the Crow is one of Aesop's Fables, numbered 124 in the Perry Index. There are early Latin and Greek versions and the fable may even have been portrayed on an ancient Greek vase. [ 1 ] The story is used as a warning against listening to flattery.

The Fox and the Grapes is one of Aesop's Fables, [1] numbered 15 in the Perry Index. [2] The narration is concise and subsequent retellings have often been equally so. The story concerns a fox that tries to eat grapes from a vine but cannot reach them. Rather than admit defeat, he states they are undesirable.
The Roman naturalist Pliny the Elder is the earliest to attest that the story reflects the behaviour of real-life corvids. [13] In August 2009, a study published in Current Biology revealed that rooks, a relative of crows, do just the same as the crow in the fable when presented with a similar situation. [14]
But when the crow seizes her, the snake kills it with her sting. The story's moral is that good fortune may not be all that it seems. [2] An alternative fable concerning a raven and a scorpion is included as a poem by Archias of Mytilene in the Greek Anthology. [3] The story is much the same but the moral drawn is that the biter shall be bit.
