The Government Medical College, Jammu also known as GMC Jammu is a medical college located in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It was established in 1973. [ 1 ] The college and hospital are approved and recognized by the National Medical Commission since the year of inception of college.
The college and hospital are affiliated with the University of Kashmir and recognized by the Medical Council of India (currently National Medical Commission). [2] The college is located in the Karan Nagar area of Srinagar, about 1.5 km (0.93 mi) from Lal Chowk.
This is the reason, as per local historian Dr Ashraf Kashmiri, this hospital was casually known as Hadwun (Hadow’s) Hospital til this day.
