The Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail (also known as the Warburton Trail) is a walking, cycling and horse-riding track in eastern Victoria, Australia.It runs a distance of 40 km (25 mi) between Lilydale and Warburton, along the former Warburton railway line in the Yarra Valley.
The trail winds through the park and reaches Eltham Lower Park, known for the Diamond Valley Railway. On the south side of the park, it connects to the footbridge across the Yarra River, leading to the Yarra River Trail, about one kilometre east of Westerfolds Park. Cycling the trail at a leisurely pace takes about an hour.
Before it was upgraded it was an informal dirt track. Construction through this section was delayed for various reasons, including the installation of new sewer main infrastructure along the corridor. [5] 600 metres of sewer pipes were installed by Yarra Valley Water as part of the Donvale Sewerage Project in March 2017. [6]
Other recreational pursuits include walking, cycling, rollerblading, walking the family dog, canoeing, horse riding and bird watching. Near the centre of the park atop a large hill lies the Manor House which housed the Mia Mia Gallery and Cafe, Indigenous Australian cultural education programs and gallery exhibiting Indigenous Australian Art .
Not far down the path is a bus stop, which surprisingly can be found in this heavily-treed area. Further along, past a pipe bridge and 1.6 km later, the Greensborough Bypass bridge spans the valley. On the east side of the road a path goes up to a goat track, which can be used to access the Western Ring Road Trail.
The Yarra River Trail tracks along the northern edge of the Eastern Freeway with first the La Trobe Golf Club to the south over the river followed by the Kew Golf Club directly to the south. It contains a primary school, a football oval, a shopping area and is passed by the Warburton Trail, a walk and cycle track along the dismantled former Warburton railway line. The town has an Australian Rules football team, the Woori Tigers, competing in the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League.
