It was founded on 12 October 1847 as Telegraphen-Bauanstalt von Siemens & Halske by Werner von Siemens and Johann Georg Halske.

Gaines Charter Township is a charter township of Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 28,812 at the 2020 census . [ 3 ] The township is part of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area and is located about 3.0 miles (4.8 km) south of the city of Grand Rapids .
