Cal Yachts (also known as Jensen Marine and Cal Boats) was a manufacturer of performance oriented fiberglass sailboats from the 1960s to the 1980s. The Costa Mesa , California , headquartered company was founded in 1957, among the earliest of all-fiberglass, mass-production sailboat builders.
Nairne saw a Cal 20 sailboat, built by Cal Yachts, while on a visit to California and convinced Jack Jensen of Jensen Marine to allow him to produce the boats under licence in Canada. The first design produced was the Cal 20, introduced in 1961. [1] [2] During its 17 years in business, Calgan produced 300 examples of Cal Yachts designs.

The Cal 25 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a masthead sloop rig, an internally-mounted spade-type rudder and a fixed fin keel . It displaces 4,000 lb (1,814 kg) and carries 1,700 lb (771 kg) of lead ballast.
A few of the early boats were designed with a deep fin cast iron keel with a bulb. A fiberglass fin keel version was built in the late 1980s and early 1990s. As with the early cast iron fin boats only a few were manufactured. The fin keel hull, deck and cabin are identical to the shoal keel with centerboard boats. Montgomery 17 - swing keel
