[1] The parish seat and most populous municipality is DeRidder. [2] The parish was formed on January 1, 1913. [3] Beauregard Parish comprises the DeRidder, LA Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Both the Lindsey and Dry Creek cemeteries in the community recorded their first burials in 1860-61 and are still used today. The first church/school was said to have been built in 1860. The 1860-61 time period records developments indicating the beginning of a community. Dry Creek is one of the oldest communities in Beauregard Parish.

The newly formed Beauregard Parish Police Jury, carved out of the old Imperial Calcasieu Parish, [3] purchased the property and a building from the church. Stevens-Nelson of New Orleans was chosen to design a courthouse and jail.
