Black Male: Representations of Masculinity in Contemporary Art was a landmark [1] exhibition held at New York's Whitney Museum of American Art from November 10, 1994 until March 5, 1995. Organized by curator Thelma Golden , Black Male was a survey of the changing representations of black masculinity in contemporary art from the 1970s to the 1990s.
A Day in the Life of Black Los Angeles, an exhibit of 120 photographs taken on Martin Luther King Day in 1988, at the Museum of African-American Art in Los Angeles, co-curated with Thomas L. [2] Johnson staged his first solo art exhibition in 1953 at a community center in Pasadena. [3] He took classes with Jaramillo at the Otis Art Institute, and the couple married in 1960. [4]
