A.P. Williams Funeral Home is a historic African-American funeral home located at Columbia, South Carolina. It was built between 1893 and 1911 as a single-family residence, and is a two-story frame building with a hipped roof with gables and a columned porch. At that time, it was one of six funeral homes that served black customers.
It expanded its coverage into Gulfport in 1905, and by 1934 had changed its name to The Daily Herald, becoming an evening and Saturday newspaper. The State Record Company bought the paper from its longtime owners, the Wilkes family, in 1968. Around this time, it moved its Saturday edition to morning publication and added a Sunday edition.
