October 29, 1963 – Hurricane Ginny remained offshore, but produced hurricane conditions in Nantucket, Massachusetts, and along coastal northeastern Maine. September 8–11, 1969 – Hurricane Gerda brushed Cape Cod and made landfall at Eastport, Maine. No people were killed, though the storm was one of the strongest to hit Maine.
Nantucket (/ ˌ n æ n ˈ t ʌ k ɪ t /) is an island about 30 miles (48 km) south from Cape Cod. [1] Together with the small islands of Tuckernuck and Muskeget, it constitutes the Town and County of Nantucket, a combined county/town government in the state of Massachusetts, USA.

On Nantucket, the warmest month of the year is July, with an average high temperature of 76 °F or 24.4 °C and an average low temperature of 64 °F or 17.8 °C. [15] Winters in coastal Massachusetts are nearly the same as winters on the mainland.
On the plus side, early September weather lived up to its grand reputation on the Cape, with sunny, warm days and cool nights. That all changed during the great rain of Sept. 19-22.
