In 2023 it was announced that a sister prize, the Women's Prize for Non-Fiction, would be awarded for the first time in 2024, with a £30,000 prize which for the first three years would be funded by the Charlotte Aitken Trust, who would also supply the winner's statuette, "The Charlotte". [19]

Run by The Women’s Prize Trust, a UK charity which creates equitable opportunities for women in the world of books, it is sponsored by Audible and Baileys and is now in its 29th year.
The award started with two categories, published and unpublished novels. Part of the prize for the winner of the unpublished category has been a publishing offer with HarperCollins. In 2022, an additional award was added to celebrate a debut published author. This is known as the New Voice award and commemorates the legacy of Sue Townsend. [5]
