Indiana State Road 267 formerly crossed US-36 in the center of Avon, leading north 5 miles (8 km) to Brownsburg and south 4 miles (6 km) to Plainfield, but that stretch of 267 was decommissioned in 2013, and the section through Avon is now officially called Avon Avenue.

Interstate 65 (I-65) in the US state of Indiana traverses from the south-southeastern Falls City area bordering Louisville, Kentucky, through the centrally located capital city of Indianapolis, to the northwestern Calumet Region of the Hoosier State which is part of the Chicago metropolitan area.
The concurrency with both state roads end when US 136 turns southeasterly and the state roads keeping heading easterly. The highway heads southeasterly as a two-lane highway, passing through farmland with some woodlands mix in. The route enters Brownsburg at a traffic light with SR 267. After Brownsburg the highway crosses the CSX Railroad tracks.
