The current plan is to separate Loop 335 from Soncy Road by building a completely new expressway with frontage roads in this section, bypassing Soncy Road. [3] [4] The northwestern section reduces to a 5-lane road (2 lanes in each direction with a center left-turn lane.) North of Amarillo Boulevard, Loop 335 becomes a 4-lane divided road.
Lanes will be reduced on the highway while new Amber Alert message boards are being installed later this week, the state agency reported.
Loop 279 begins at an intersection with Business Loop I-40 near Amarillo College in Amarillo, Potter County, heading east on SW 9th Avenue, a four-lane divided highway. The road soon becomes a five-lane road with a center left-turn lane as it passes through commercial areas before heading between the Amarillo Country Club to the north and residential areas to the south, losing the center turn lane.
These five highways then entered the traffic circle in downtown Boise City. US 287 emerged from the north side of the circle, as well as US 385 and SH 3. Now US 287 bypasses town to the east. These three highways (US 287, US 385, SH 3) head north to the Colorado state line. SH 3 ends there, while US 287 and US 385 continue onward into Colorado.
U.S. Route 287 in North Texas U.S. Route 287 near Midlothian. U.S. Highway 287 (US 287) in the U.S. state of Texas is a major U.S. Highway that begins on the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur and heads north through Fort Worth, northwest to Childress, Clarendon, Wichita Falls, and Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle and into Oklahoma near Kerrick.
Beginning Thursday, crews will begin replacing the Hope Road bridge on Interstate 40, located just west of the city limits of Amarillo. The project is expected to be completed in early 2025.
