The Meadow Event Park (also called "The Meadow") is an event center in Doswell, Virginia. Previously called the Meadow Stables, the park hosts the annual State Fair of Virginia. Knight was born and raised on a farm. After graduation from Kempsville High School, he worked as a truck driver to raise enough money to buy his own hog farm. As of 2008 his business, Barry D. Knight Farms, produced about 12,000 hogs a year. [2] [3] Knight was named the Virginia Farm Bureau's Young Farmer of the Year in 1983.
The Fair moved to its new location in 2009 at the Meadow Event Park in Caroline County. This multi-use space of 360 acres (1.5 km 2) includes a 75,000-square-foot (7,000 m 2) exposition hall, a 10,000-square-foot (930 m 2) multi-purpose pavilion, a horse-stall barn with 143 stalls, and an equine facility with four show rings, to accommodate local and regional horse shows and other equine events.

In March 2010, the venue removed its corporate prefix ("Verizon Wireless") for the first time in its 14-year history, to be known simply as "Virginia Beach Amphitheater". [3] In February 2011, the amphitheater was renamed "Farm Bureau Live at Virginia Beach", with naming rights coming from Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance. [4]
