The Cuban amazon (Amazona leucocephala), also known as the Cuban parrot and the rose-throated parrot, is a medium-sized mainly green parrot found in woodlands and dry forests of Cuba, the Bahamas and Cayman Islands in the Caribbean.
The Bahama oriole is a black and yellow oriole that has small white markings on the wings and tail. It shows the most yellow out of all the Caribbean orioles. The adult male and females are mostly black with yellow underparts, ranging from the mid-breast to the vent, thighs, rump, and lower back. [4]
Species of birds include the Bahamian subspecies of Cuban amazon (Amazona leucocephala bahamensis), which exists only in Cuba, the Cayman Islands, the southern Bahamas and Abaco. [31] This population is unique in that it nests in limestone solution cavities rather than tree cavities. [32]
These birds weigh around 2.4 to 3 g (0.085 to 0.106 oz). [12] Their backs are green and gold, with olive-buff underparts, and flanks fading into white (males) or cinnamon (females).
