To the south stretches the community of Red Fork. The west end of Lookout Mountain connects to other hills in West Tulsa, including Cowbell Hill and Anderson Hill.

KTUL was an affiliate of the CBS Radio Network, and carried CBS's schedule of dramas, comedies, news, sports, soap operas, game shows and big band broadcasts during the "Golden Age of Radio". One of its early local stars, with a regular live music program, was a young teen-aged Patti Page .
Every night during the weather forecast, Woods would announce a winner for that night's original Gusty. The Gusty drawings became one of the longest promotions for KTUL, lasting from the mid-1950s until Woods's retirement in 1989. Gusty drawings are installed in Tulsa's Gilcrease Museum and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C.
