Brodie Castle is a well-preserved Z-plan tower house located about 3.5 miles (5.5 kilometres) west of Forres, in Moray, Scotland. The castle is a Category A listed building , [ 1 ] and the grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland .
The earliest information about the construction of the castle in Brody town refers to the 1580s. Crown Hetman (Polish: Hetman polny koronny) Stanisław Koniecpolski acquired Brody town in 1629 and built the castle bastion of a new type between 1630 and 1635 under the supervision of Italian architect Andrea del Aqua, based on a design by Guillaume Le Vasseur de Beauplan.
