Norman Park, like many areas of Brisbane, was unsewered until the late 1960s, with each house having an outhouse or "dunny" in the back yard. Norman Park began taking in the first settlers in 1853. Norman was created in the 1949 redistribution, taking effect at the 1950 state election, and existed until the 1972 state election. [1] It centred on East Brisbane and Norman Park. [1] When Norman was abolished in 1972, most of its area was incorporated into the district of South Brisbane. [1]
