Jonathan Sutherland (born 1977) is a Scottish television and radio presenter and producer, currently the main presenter of BBC Scotland's Sunday night Sportscene [1] on BBC One Scotland. He occasionally hosts the Sportscene Results show on Saturday afternoons and regularly appears on Reporting Scotland.
BBC Two upgraded to PAL colour in 1967 (including Scotland) across the UK, with BBC One (network programmes only at first, with local output still in black-and-white) and STV following in December 1969, and in 1971, BBC Scotland's Queen Margaret Drive Studio "A" in Glasgow became one of the first regional studios in Britain to upgrade to colour.
BBC Scotland launched 24 February at 7:00 p.m.; it signed on with an introductory video, featuring a performance of "Miracle" by the Scottish synthpop group Chvrches, accompanied by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Its first programme was a variety special (A Night at the Theatre) hosted by comedian Iain Stirling.
David Currie (born 1967) [citation needed] is a Scottish television presenter and journalist who currently presents Sportscene on BBC Scotland, alongside Jonathan Sutherland. He also appears on the sport section of BBC Reporting Scotland. [1] Currie's earliest job was as Jim Traynor's sidekick on Your Call on BBC Radio Scotland.
Autumn – The BBC launches regional versions of Rugby Special so that each nation can receive fuller coverage of games from their country. 1987. 22 May-20 June – The BBC shows mostly recorded coverage of the first Rugby World Cup. The football coverage, in turn, concentrated mostly on Scottish Premier League clubs. The show also followed Scottish clubs in the UEFA Champions League via live matches and highlights programmes. Scotsport's main rival was the long-running BBC Scotland strand Sportscene, which continues to broadcast to this day.
