The Magen David Adom (Hebrew: מגן דוד אדום, abbr. MDA, pronounced MAH-dah per its Hebrew acronym, מד״א) is Israel's national emergency medical, disaster, ambulance and blood bank service.
Magen David Adom is the nationally recognized EMS organization of the State of Israel. MDA consists of approx. 22,000 volunteers and 2550 employees, Paramedics and first responders. The organization operates 166 stations with a fleet of over 1000 ambulances. The majority of the fleet consists of Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances.
The service deals with requests to trace relatives with whom all contact has been lost as a result of wars or natural disasters. The International Tracing Unit of Magen David Adom is available to all Israeli citizens as part of the services given by the national organisation, which is the equivalent of the Red Cross in other countries.
