Pwani Region (Mkoa wa Pwani in Swahili) is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions.The word "Pwani" in Swahili means the "coast".With the town of Kibaha serving as the capital, the region borders the Tanga Region to the north, Morogoro Region to the west, Lindi Region to the south, and surrounds Dar es Salaam Region to the east.
The construction of Tanzania's first toll expressway, a 215-kilometer road from Kibaha to Morogoro, is set to be completed in 2024. This four-lane expressway will facilitate faster travel and reduce congestion on the current highway, enhancing connectivity within the region and supporting economic activities.

The forest borders in the Pugu ward, of Ilala MC in Dar es Salaam to the east, adjacent to the Kazimzumbwi Forest Reserve.
Mkuranga District Council (Wilaya ya Mkuranga, in Swahili) is one of eight administrative districts of Pwani Region in Tanzania. The District covers an area of 2,827 km 2 (1,092 sq mi). [ 1 ] It is bordered to the north by Dar es Salaam's Kigamboni , Temeke and Ilala Districts.
The district is named after the town of Chalinze itself. The district is home to Tanzania's 5th President, Jakaya Kikwete, who was born and raised in Msoga, Chalinze District. He was also a member of parliament of the district during his political career. The district was created from Bagamoyo District in July 2016. [3]
