Dana Andrews. Van Heflin. Gene Tierney. Laird Cregar. by Anonymous: reply 22: August 16, 2015 4:17 PM ...
Dana Andrews real first name was Carver, so Dana was actually an improvement. I really love a lot of the actors mentioned in this thread. Dana, George Peppard, Fredric March, Dennis Morgan, even Robert Taylor and George Brent. I don’t like Fred MacMurray or Glenn Ford though.
Julie Andrews/Tony Walton. Steve Allen was on the downlow but I don't know whether he was gay or bi, whether Audrey Meadows was gay, bi or straight, or whether she was even aware of his escapades. They definitely cared very much about each other, regardless. They had a child together and he had three children by his first wife.
I think Dana Andrews would have been a bigger star if the drinking didn’t affect his work. His career as a leading man was basically over by the 1950’s. Nobody I’ve ever mentioned him to ever knows who he is, including relatives who are over 60. I’m glad to see him getting some appreciation here.
Errol Flynn and John Barrymore were great friends and drinking buddies, during the thirties. Barrymore used to come over to Flynn's house, which had an expansive view if LA, and piss out the windows "In the hopes of hitting the Warner Brothers below".
R18 Incidentally, I recently got into Dana Andrews. I stumbled upon BALL OF FIRE on YouTube and watched it because of Miss Barbara Stanwyck, but I ended up falling for him. I subsequently watched LAURA, STATE FAIR, and THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES and now I'm in love. 😂. I love his wavy, dark hair and handsome, affable face and smiling eyes.
Price was handsome, but I'm more attracted to Dana Andrews in r2's link. by Anonymous: reply 8: July 30 ...
The Dana Wynter post reminded me that her Body Snatchers co-star Kevin McCarthy was married to soap actress Augusta Dabney (Isabel Alden, Loving) for many years. Political commentator Eleanor Clift was the sister-in-law of Montgomery Clift.
Cummings, Dana Andrews and Van Heflin are among my favorite actors of the 40s. The #1 actor I can't stand: James Stewart. Somebody up-thread mentioned that the only movie of his they like is Harvey, which, to me, is Jimmy Stewart at his most Jimmy Stewart-ness and thus the movie is unwatchable.
R99 DL fave the late Catherine Burns played Marie in the Dana Andrews/Rosemary Murphy "Come Back Little Sheba". Turk was (the also deceased) Michael O'Hare, who was in the TV series "Babylon 5" in the 90s. I always thought he was cute.
