State Highway 82 (SH 82) is an 85.3-mile-long (137.3 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Colorado.Its western half provides the principal transportation artery of the Roaring Fork Valley on the Colorado Western Slope, beginning at Interstate 70 (I-70) and U.S. Highway 6 (US 6) in Glenwood Springs southeast past Carbondale, Basalt and Aspen.

The Grizzly Creek Fire caused a section of I-70 between Glenwood Springs and Gypsum in Glenwood Canyon to be closed on August 10, 2020. It was reopened by CDOT the morning of August 24, 2020. [ 23 ] Local roads were also closed in the area, including Highway 82 which passes over Independence Pass.
The route was established in the 1920s, when it began at 46th Avenue in Denver and headed northwest to Nederland. The section of the present-day SH 72 north of Nederland was designated as SH 160. By 1936, the southeastern terminus had been moved to SH 58, itself since relocated.

Interstate 270, I-70's only auxiliary route in Colorado, is the shortest interstate highway in the state, spanning about 7 miles (11 km).
Interstate 70 Business (I-70 Bus.) is a loop serving Idaho Springs from I-70. The route starts at a partial Y interchange at exit 239. The route parallels I-70 to the north through downtown along Colorado Boulevard. It passes through a roundabout and up and over the Interstate on an overpass before terminating at exit 241.
