The Thousand Islands archipelago is at the outlet of Lake Ontario at the head of the Saint Lawrence River.The region is bisected by the Canada–United States border and covers portions of Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties in the U.S. state of New York, in addition to parts of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville and Frontenac County in the Canadian province of Ontario.
The Toronto Islands are a chain of 15 [1] small islands in Lake Ontario, south of mainland Toronto, Ontario, Canada.. Comprising the only group of islands in the western part of Lake Ontario, the Toronto Islands are located just offshore from the city's downtown area, provide shelter for Toronto Harbour, and separate Toronto from the rest of Lake Ontario.
The area of the island is stated as 41,214 km 2 (15,913 sq mi) by Statistics Canada. [4] It is the 34th largest island in the world and Canada's ninth largest island. The only settlement on Southampton Island is Coral Harbour (population 1,035, 2021 Canadian census), [5] called Salliq in Inuktitut.
