JF Books, formerly known as Jifeng Bookstore (Chinese: 季风书园; pinyin: jìfēng shū yuán), is an independent bookstore in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. [1] [2] [3] It is the only Chinese-language bookstore in D.C. [4] It was originally founded in 1997 in Shanghai.
The first, 130-foot tower was located in the Studio Backlot Tour area of Disney's Hollywood Studios, [3] known as Disney-MGM Studios when the park opened in 1989. It was the park's original icon, with The Great Movie Ride —a life-size replica of Grauman's Chinese Theatre —serving as the visual centerpiece.
The company was founded in Shanghai on 1 January 1912 as the Chung Hwa Book Co., Ltd. (上海中華書局有限公司) by Lufei Kui, a former manager of the Commercial Press, another Shanghai-based publisher that had been established in 1897.
