The Writer's Almanac is a daily podcast and newsletter of poetry and historical interest pieces, usually of literary significance. Begun as a radio program in 1993, [ 1 ] [ 2 ] it is hosted by Garrison Keillor and was produced and distributed by American Public Media through November 2017.
Garrison Keillor selected Glose as the featured poet on The Writer's Almanac for July 1, 2017. [6] In 2024, Bill Glose was one of the poets chosen to represent the East Coast on World Poetry Day (March 21) during a 24-hour poetry reading that spanned the globe. [7] Glose has written extensively about his and other veterans' combat experiences.
His poetry is often anthologized and was featured on The Writer's Almanac radio program. [ 3 ] He is also the author of two book-length literary studies: The "Winter Mind": William Bronk and American Letters (1998) [ 4 ] and The Poetics of Authorship in the Later Middle Ages: The Emergence of the Modern Literary Persona (1996).
Louis Jenkins’ book, Nice Fish, was winner of the Minnesota Book Award in 1995, [8] and his book Just Above Water won the Northeastern Minnesota Book Award in 1997. Jenkins was a featured poet at the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival in 1996 and at the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival in England in 2007. [2]
Ada Limón (born March 28, 1976) is an American poet. [1] On July 12, 2022, she was named the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States by the Librarian of Congress. [2] [3] [4] This made her the first Latina to be Poet Laureate of the United States. [5] She is married to Lucas Marquardt. [6]
Her essays and poems have appeared in Poetry, Parabola, The Seattle Times, The Kenyon Review, Blackbird, BookForum, The Bloomsbury Review, and The Writer's Almanac. [2] Her most recent book of poetry, Shadow Architect, was published by Copper Canyon Press in 2008. She currently divides her time between Seattle and Twisp, Washington.
