Robert R. Hermann Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium located in Midtown St. Louis, Missouri, on the campus of Saint Louis University. The first game played was August 21, 1999. This is where both the Billiken men's and women's soccer teams play. Also, several other events take place here, such as pep rallies and the University's Relay For Life.
After six seasons (2015-2020), Saint Louis FC disbanded after the 2020 season because of COVID-19 concerns and to make way for St. Louis City SC of Major League Soccer. McBride attended St. Louis University from 1963 to 1967 where he played for the school's NCAA soccer team, known as the Billikens. He was selected a first-team All-American in 1964 and 1965. After graduating in 1967, he was the first American-born player drafted by the Saint Louis Stars of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL).

The league included about 70 players between the ages of 16 and 22, playing on four teams: the Bobby Soccers, Bombers, Co-eds and Flyers.
