    Ibkr if you trade lots. TD Ameritade is the American brokerage which is only available for US residents. TD Direct Investing is for Canadian residents. I use TD and have a TD direct investing tfsa. Never heard of ameritrade. Direct invest is linked to your easyweb account.

    When your a Canadian you can use TD ameritrade for paper trading by downloading the think or swim app on the computer. It is best if you have a TD bank account and register to be able to login to the think or swim application. Then once the think or swim app is download it is in the american version.
