The qualifications will be conducted from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on the indoor range at the Lake County Sheriff’s Department 2293 N Main St, Crown Point, IN. Appointments and approval are required for any individual who is not retired from the Lake County Sheriff's Department.
The Lake County Civil Sheriff has three (3) offices to serve the citizens of Lake County. Each office is open to the public Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Detectives search for and arrest suspects with outstanding warrants who are located within Lake County, Indiana. Respond to inquiries from law enforcement personnel, courts, prosecutors, attorneys, and the public in general in regards to persons with possible outstanding warrants.
This Division oversees the property inventory for the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. This Division also controls the property that is evidence, either recovered or confiscated. Persons wanting to claim property belonging to them must have proof of ownership and a photo ID.

Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. is a lifelong resident of Lake County, Indiana. He was born in Gary and raised in East Chicago, Indiana. Oscar currently lives in St. John, Indiana with his wife of 25 years (married 1994), Melissa, and their 3 children: Alyssa 25, Amanda 23, and Oscar Martinez III 20.
