Gorges State Park is a 7,709-acre (31.20 km 2) [1] North Carolina state park in Transylvania County, North Carolina in the United States and along with other conservation lands is part of a 100,000+ acre conservation corridor stretching some 80 miles along the NC/SC state line.
The park was created in 2024 after being a state natural area and managed by the Justin P. Wilson Cumberland Trail State Park [2] and perseveres the North Chickamauga Creek gorge, the Creek which is a Tennessee State Scenic River. The park is billed as the Southern Gateway to the Cumberland Trail. [3]
Chesterfield Gorge Natural Area, also known as Chesterfield Gorge State Wayside, is a 13-acre (5.3 ha) state park on Route 9 in Chesterfield, New Hampshire. [3] The park conserves a rocky gorge with waterfalls on Wilde Brook. There is picnicking, a seasonal visitor center, and 0.7-mile (1.1 km) trail on either side of the brook.
The gorge is also protected by the state of Pennsylvania as the 12,163-acre (4,922 ha) Pine Creek Gorge Natural Area, which is the second largest State Natural Area in Pennsylvania.
