Keweenaw County (/ ˈ k iː w ə n ɔː /, KEE-wə-naw) is a county in the western Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census , the county's population was 2,046, making it Michigan's least populous county. [ 3 ]

The original Eagle Harbor Light was built in 1851. The current structure with octagonal tower and associated keeper's house was built in 1871. In 1999 ownership was transferred to the Keweenaw County Historical Society, although the Coast Guard still operates the light.
