WEHA (88.7 FM) is a Stellar Award winning radio station broadcasting an Urban Gospel format. Licensed to the suburb of Port Republic, New Jersey, it serves the Atlantic City metropolitan area. The station's nighttime power was increased to 30,000 watts in the early 2000s, in a swap with WOWO in Fort Wayne, Indiana, which also broadcasts on 1190 AM.Prior to the power increase, WLIB was classified as a "limited time" station operating during daytime hours (NYC sunrise until sunset at Fort Wayne) only, deferring at night to WOWO's 50,000-watt clear-channel signal.
WIMG is the oldest radio station in New Jersey. On December 1, 1921, the U.S. Department of Commerce, which regulated radio at this time, adopted the first regulations formally establishing a broadcasting station category, which set aside the wavelength of 360 meters (833 kHz) for entertainment broadcasts, and 485 meters (619 kHz) for market and weather reports. WKMB signed on in February 1972 with an adult contemporary format under the ownership of Herb Michaels. It changed to a country music format in 1979; in 2002, WKMB became the only commercial radio station in the New York City area to broadcast country music after a four-station simulcast on 107.1 FM dropped the format for Spanish-language programming.
