Bangladesh Naval Academy is a reputed military academy for naval training in South Asia.It was established in 1976 at the premises of the Mercantile Marine Academy at Juludia, Chittagong, later shifted to BNS Issa Khan in Chittagong to train the cadets of the Bangladesh Navy.
Long Course – 3 years. BMA Special Regular Course – 24 weeks. Basic Military Training Course – 24 weeks. Joint Services Course – 10 weeks (Bangladesh Navy cadets and Bangladesh Air Force cadets). Direct Short Service Commission – 49 weeks; Potential Platoon Commanders Course – 05 weeks. Drill Instructor Course – 07 weeks.
On 23 March 1979, University Officers Training Corps, Bangladesh Cadet Corps and Junior Cadet Corps were all merged by President Ziaur Rahman. [1] The organization is tri service combined from Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force. [2] At present, its headquarters is located in Sector 6, Uttara, Dhaka. [3]
These are accredited courses, recognized throughout Bangladesh and elsewhere. The total duration of training of the cadets is four years. Out of that 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year training is conducted in the academy to cover the theoretical aspects of professional and academic subjects.

After the liberation of Bangladesh, The Cadet Colleges Order (PO 89) of 1972 issued guidelines for restructuring the councils and governing bodies of the cadet colleges. According to new provisions, the Education Minister became the ex-officio chairman of the council and the divisional commissioner the chairman of the governing body.
The college is run by Bangladesh Armed forces. [1] A British Military Advisory Team (BMAT) headed by a Chief Instructor, was the founding and driving force in running the training curriculum in the initial days of the college. The inaugural batch had 30 students from all the three services of Bangladesh Armed Forces and Bangladesh Police.
