Jefferson County is a county located in the north central portion of the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census , the population was 782,969. [ 1 ] It is the most populous county in the commonwealth (with more than twice the population of second ranked Fayette County ).
The following year, the Jeffersontown and Southeastern Jefferson County Historical Society was formed and became the curators of the museum. The society also worked to obtain artifacts and documents for display. The original museum remained open until 1982 when it was closed in response to artifacts being stolen. [3]
